The Day After Thanksgiving. FitBit. Yurbuds.

The vast majority of America is logging in big mileage today, running all over the stores to grab deals and steals.

Not me. Uh-huh.

My disdain for crowded malls has gotten me to a point of actually considering buying 10-15 pairs of jeans online, then returning all but the one that fits best. Boots, too.

Anyone else switched entirely to cyber-shopping these days?

Anyways. I’m saving my legs for the Quarry Turkey Half Marathon tomorrow. It’ll be a hoot!

Meanwhile, the official results of the Silicon Valley Turkey Trot are in!

Net time: 52:39: Personal Best!
Average pace: 8:29
Overall place: 1561 out of 8040
Women: 371 out of 4132
Age group: 78 out of 713

The official results of Thanksgiving dinner:
Turkey: one serving
Ham (bestest!): two servings
Mashed potatoes: one serving
Green beans, brussel sprouts: two servings
Yams, beans: one serving
Pumpkin pie, blueberry pie, key-lime pie: 1 slice each
Banitsa, blue cheese banitsa: 1 piece each
Red wine, white wine, sangria…. hmmm, didn’t count.
Total calories: one billion trillion gazillion. Or, as BabyRuns would say, googolplexian. (He taught me that this is the biggest number. I don’t know where he learned that, but he’s actually right.)
Pounds gained: 3

Seriously, people. Go do those Turkey Trots and post-Thanksgiving runs, else those pounds will just kick-start your holiday season quite the wrong way.

I’m planning to sweat out the extra poundage tomorrow!

On another note, this Wednesday I stopped by Target on the way to work, to get new earphones.

I had my eyes on a pair of Womens Yurbuds Inspire. I had read (and heard from runner friends) that these things are shaped to fit into your ear and not fall off while you’re running. I can’t run without music and having to constantly adjust my earphones is sort of annoying, so that was a big selling point.

Plus, they came in one of my favorite colors:

How to resist?

I tested them at the Turkey Trot yesterday and, truth. They do not even move. For the first time in I don’t know how long, I could run without constantly adjusting the cable or earbuds themselves. The holidays are coming, go get them for yourself or the runner(s) in your life. They’ll thank you big time!

While at Target, I saw this little thing — a Fitbit Zip Wireless Activity Tracker — on clearance.

The Fitbit is essentially a glorified pedometer. It tracks the number of steps you take, but then also calculates the miles walked and calories burned based on that. Best of all, it inputs all the data into handy little charts and such. I love me some charts!

The Fitbit Zip doesn’t have as many bells and whistles as the Fitbit One, which also tracks your sleep patterns. But it’s much smaller (you can stick it on your bra!) and was only $30. I’ll take it!

Happy Wednesday Before Black Friday to me!

Did you go shopping today? What did you get?

My day so far:

No running today, but we met friends for brunch and between the short walk from the car to the restaurant and then to our friends’ house nearby, the miles are adding up.

Yesterday, with my 10K in the morning, I took a total of 18728 steps, for 9.22 miles.

I love how with all these gadgets and tracking/ GPS devices these days, we are totally turning into Big Brother on ourselves. You know what I mean?
