National Running Day in San Francisco — and JavaGum Giveaway Winners

How was your National Running Day? I hope you had a fun day and ran some place nice!

I was in San Francisco all day today, and while I typically use those city days to take a break from running, today there would be no such thing. Come lunch time, I headed out of the office, down Market street and onto the Embarcadero:Towards Fisherman’s Wharf (construction going on there, by the way, major zig-zagging and tourist-dodging necessary):What, it doesn’t look much like San Francisco to you? OK, how about this then:Yup, turn-around point (and, obviously, ultimate destination) was this wide-open view of the li’l Golden bridge.

A total of 6.66 miles, according to my Garmin — but RunKeeper reads it as 6.81, so I’ll go with that! — run with a friend and former co-worker I hadn’t seen in years, in just over 1:05. Fun times!

And before I forget, the winners of the goodie bags from Java Gum:

  • Kyle P.
  • Nick M.
  • Christie S.
  • Carrie C.

You each get a tank top, a T-shirt and six packets of gum from Java Gum! Please contact me with the addresses where the company can mail your goodies!

Today’s run:Does not reflect stopping at red lights, which – according to how Garmin interpreted the same data – took up more than five minutes:I also find it very strange that the two “apps” interpret the same data with different distances. Anyone know why this happens?

How much did you run today? Where?

I’ve been out of the loop and needing some running motivation and once again, my dear, you did not fail me. So thank you! I’m off to run in Long Beach, NY–not as far or as fast as you, but a run nonetheless. 🙂
